Reclaim your space in the New Year!
Reclaim Your Space
Happy New Year!
The beginning of every year is such a great way to restart your
body, reset your mindset, and set new goals.
I love the beginning of a New Year! It’s a new start. A
clean slate!
I take my New Year’s goals pretty seriously, maybe because
I am Capricorn, or maybe because I am a little superstitious...
This year is no different, I have a long list of new goals related
to my business, some personal, and a few related to my
family life.
I also have other goals related to my home, and I tend to consider these more of a tradition now.

Every year shortly after all the Christmas decorations get put away, I start a space cleanse!
The holidays are a wonderful time of the time year, but they can be overwhelming in many ways. In my experience, space can feel tighter during the holidays, specially after unwrapping all those wonderful things that arrive from the North Pole. Things have a way of taking over our homes, but once the Christmas decorations get put away I begin to declutter and reorganize my home.
I donate and get rid of anything that no longer serves a purpose, or meets our current lifestyle.
When our spaces are lighter, I am able to revise and redefine them, making sure our home remains as functional and pleasant as possible.

Getting married, raising little ones, seeing them go off to college, living with an elderly parent, downsizing, or just starting over. It’s important to nurture our spaces as much as our spirits, and reclaiming our spaces forces us to reevaluate how we are living in our homes.
As we go through life changes the needs in our spaces will change. Reviewing our spaces and making sure function is always relative to our current lifestyles allows us to live in places that make us happy and work for our needs.

5 Easy
and Affordable Things You Can Do To Reclaim Your Space
1.
House
Cleanse
Think about all the stuff that enters your home and creates chaos and clutter, like school papers, mail, toys, clothing, books, magazines, etc. All these things have a
way of taking over your space, and affect how you feel about your home. Keeping spaces clutter free helps you stay focused and organized. Donate items you no longer need and keep only what serves your current lifestyle.
2.
Tame
the Madness
Have an organizational system that works for you and your family. Systems are more about routines, and
learning what works for your and your family is key. Find one, and get organized. Also, having plenty of accessible storage and buying furniture with storage can be helpful for easy clean up and organizing.
3. Rethink your Space
Rethink your floor plan. Make it functional for your lifestyle. Swap rooms, rearrange your furniture, rethink your storage needs. Make your space more efficient. Don't waste empty space that can be utilized for storage or extra seating. On that note, don't over furnish a space, which may look smaller or cramped.
4. Transform
There’s nothing like a fresh coat of
paint to bring life back into a space. Paint transforms spaces and makes them feel new, clean, and fresh again.
5.
Restyle
Get new wall art, accessories, and throw
pillows. Restyle your space and make it beautiful again with updated home decor.
