Las Vegas Market 2019 Recap!!!

Image
Las Vegas Market 2019 Whatever happened to "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas"? I couldn't do that to you, and you probably wouldn't want me to hold back on all my findings either! I just got back from LV Market, and I am back to work inspired, full of energy and ready to put to use all the incredible resources I connected with while I was there. Although it was a quick three-day trip, it was still very productive!   I walked an average of 5-6 miles a day, looking for the latest trends in home furnishings and décor for my clients.  Seminars are also a must at this event, since some of the most influential leaders in the design community participate in educational panels on trends and news related to the industry. So, you bet your heart I attended a handful of them!   World Market in Las Vegas is the largest showroom complex in the world, 5 million square feet of showroom space to be exact.   Inside the complex, you will ...

Reclaim your space in the New Year!

Reclaim Your Space  Happy New Year!  The beginning of every year is such a great way to restart your body, reset your mindset, and set new goals. I love the beginning of a New Year! It’s a new start. A clean slate!   I take my New Year’s goals pretty seriously, maybe because I am Capricorn, or maybe because I am a little superstitious... I was lucky to be born on the first day of the year, but with it comes big responsibilities. After all you got to do better than the year before, strive for a healthier you, a stronger, wiser and kinder self, right? This year is no different, I have a long list of new goals related to my business, some personal, and a few related to my family life. I also have other goals related to my home, and I tend to consider these more of a tradition now.  E very year shortly after all the Christmas decorations get put away, I start a space cleanse! The holidays are a wonderful time of the time year, but they can be ...

Interior Designer or Decorator   I nterior Designer or Decorator, what is the difference? At times these terms get interchanged, and the best analogy is of someone mistakenly calling the chef a cook. You may not need a chef to make you a sandwich, and you wouldn’t expect a cook to prepare you salmon tartare tostadas with citrus and dill sprinkles. Get where I am going with this? (Sorry if I just made you hungry….back to design!)   The differences in focus are vastly different. I nterior design is both an art and a science in understanding people’s behavior in a space. An interior designer will incorporate creative and systematic solutions while also anticipating the needs of those that use the space. They have been trained to create spaces that are both functional and beautiful. What does an Interior Designer Do? An interior designer is involved with the building of a project from start to finish. They are part of designs with structural changes, renova...

A Leap to House and Harmony  My Start.... Hi, I am Claudia Davis, Founder and Interior Designer at House and Harmony.  Let’s say that growing up in a furniture maker’s family you learn a thing or two. My  family business works very hard making gorgeous one of a kind custom furniture pieces. I say, I was lucky to be practically raised in my family’s furniture manufacturing company, since I was unintentionally trained very early on in the field. I’ve been surrounded by fabrics, furnishings, and design since birth. It was there that I learned the importance of good work ethic and discipline , design of commercial and home furnishings, and a lot about business management. It was also there that I fell in love with the idea of becoming an interior designer.   I was trained at the School of Art and Design at San Diego State, with an emphasis in Interior Design and Art History. In my opinion, interior design is an art form. A way to express and evoke emotio...
